Trekchod Retreat with Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche: January 3-11, 2015
Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche's biography
Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche will give step-by-step meditation instructions on His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche’s Vajrakilaya Namchak Putri Trekchod commentary.
This year he will teach outer, inner and secret rushen, the Dzogchen preliminary practice undertaken in order to prepare the mindstream of students for the main trekchod teachings. Rinpoche will offer the main trekchod teachings in 2016, impermanence notwithstanding. He said it would be beneficial for the student to attend the rushen retreat in order to receive the trekchod teachings next year.
Khor-de Rushen is the special preliminary practice for Dzogchen, the Great Perfection. Traditionally the only gateway for entering the profound path of Dzogchen, Rushen fully prepares us for practicing the path of complete liberation. At the heart of its instructions is the key to differentiating between samsara and nirvana. Like extracting pure butter from milk, we can learn to extract the essence of nirvana from the gross phenomena of samsara. By completing the practice of Rushen, the seed that is the cause for rebirth is destroyed and the doors to the Six Realms of Beings are sealed forever.
These instructions, together with the requisite meditation practice, provide an unparallelled opportunity for the student to gain stability in their meditation under the guidance of a genuine and experienced meditation master. There will potentially be a practice commitment by the end of this retreat.
“Namchak Putri is actually the king of all the collections of Vajrakilaya tantras from Tibet as it is a complete treasure cycle from ngöndro to the Togal clear light teachings. It is very rare to get the complete rushen teachings from a completely qualified practitioner lama such as Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche. To receive this kind of teaching requires many positive circumstances and conditions coming together and therefore it is very precious.” Lama Sonam Tsering Rinpoche
